Rain-battered Kodagu limps back to normal

After enduring heavy rain and severe flooding in the last three to four days, there was a much-needed relief from the rain for Kodagu district on Saturday.

With the receding rain and flood, the farmers have resumed agricultural activities.

However, parts of the district received showers intermittently on Friday night and Saturday.

Lakshmanatheerta river in spate following heavy rain in Srimangala, Kutta and Ponnampet in south Kodagu, in the last few days. However, the water levels in Cauvery river and Triveni Sangama have receded as the intensity of rain in Bhagamandala and Talacauvery regions has come down.

Two persons were injured at Aiguru in Somwarpet taluk after a portion of the ceiling of a house fell on them. The injured have been admitted to Somwarpet government hospital.

In the last 24 hours, Sampaje has recorded 91 mm rain, Madikeri 73 mm, Bhagamandala 69 mm and Shantalli 44 mm.
