Rain havoc: CM directs relief on war-footing

Chief Secretary K Ratnaprabha, following the direction by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, ordered all district in-charge secretaries to rush to the respective districts to take immediate steps to mitigate the damages caused by the rain, and to oversee the relief work in affected areas.

The chief secretary also instructed the officials to give detailed reports on the extent of damage caused by thunderstorm by Monday. She also suggested the officials and to take up relief works on war-footing.

Thundershowers have wreaked havoc in several parts of the state including Belagavi, Gadag, Chikkmagaluru, Mysuru and Chamarajnagar.

The CM has instructed the officials to be on alert 24X7 and give updates on the situation to the CM’s office on the real-time basis.

The CM, earlier, had a detailed discussion with the chief secretary and the DCs, and instructed the officers to ensure sufficient funds are available for the relief works.

The chief secretary briefed the CM on the measures taken in the districts.
