Rain hits normal life in D'gere, C'durga, Ballari

Hailstorms were reported from several villages in Ubrani hobli of Channagiri taluk, Davangere district on Thursday afternoon. The showers gave the residents relief from the sweltering heat, while farmers heaved a sigh of relief, hoping for good crops.

Rains, accompanied by strong wind, lashed Ballari city on Wednesday night. The wind brought down a few small trees. The heavy rain and the tree fall disrupted vehicular traffic for a few minutes.

Showers accompanied by wind and thunder were reported for about two hours from Chitradurga and other parts of the district, including Holalkere, Hosadurga, Bharamasagara, Molakalmuru and Sirigere in the evening. A few trees were uprooted due to the wind, snapping electricity lines and causing a power shutdown.

The downpour threw traffic out of gear on Chitradurga city's roads. Hailstorm was reported from a few villages in Holalkere taluk. Lemon, plantain, coconut and mango trees were uprooted at Elagi near Horti in Davangere district. Powerlines snapped leading to disruption in electricity supply.
