Rains continue in coastal districts

DK had received an average rainfall of 69.4 mm on Wednesday, which increased to 92.2 mm by Thursday morning. The rainfall that Mangalore received on Thursday was more than the double that of the previous day. In fact, it witnessed the highest rainfall in the district, i.e., 150 mm. Bantwal received 114.6 mm, while Puttur received 83.2 mm. Since June, Dakshina Kannada has received 1,952 mm rainfall.

Udupi district has received an average rainfall of 90.80 mm in the last 24 hours. Kundapur witnessed the highest rainfall in the district, i.e., 129.40 mm. In the last one month, the district has received 1,825.59 mm rainfall. In-charge DC N S Prasanna Kumar said the government has released Rs 172.50 lakh to the district towards rain-relief. River Sowparnika is flooding, though it is not above the danger mark. Paddy fields in various places have been submerged.
