Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Working President G C Chandrashekar (GCC) clarified on Tuesday that he would not escalate the war of words between him and Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna.

Taking severe exception to Chandrashekhar's comment on Sunday that the Congress high command is like Krishna and dissenting ministers were like Shishupala, Rajanna said on Monday that it was the Congress' "ill fate" that the likes of Chandrashekhar have become two-time MPs.

Speaking about Rajanna’s comment, Chandrashekhar said: "I have clearly stated what I wanted to say but haven’t spoken about anyone. I am just a party worker. Rajanna is a senior leader and I respect his statement. As the working president, I don’t want to extend this as action-reaction doesn’t help the party’s growth."
