Shooting for the much-awaited multilingual film ‘Lingaa’ starring superstar Rajinikanth has been going on at the Linganamakki dam near Kargal in Sagar taluk.

The film’s crew, including Rajinikanth, arrived here last week and began the shooting on Monday. Produced by Rockline Venkatesh, the film is named after the superstar’s grandson and will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages.

K S Ravikumar is the director. This is the third time that the actor-director duo has teamed up after the stupendous success of films like ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padayappa.’

It is learnt that the film will be shot in various parts of the district for 21 days. Tamil actors Vijay Kumar and Radha Ravi are also part of the shooting. Actresses Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty play the lead female roles.

A huge Shiva temple set has been erected on a hill near the radial gate of the dam under the guidance of artistes from Mumbai.

Hundreds of fans, who are thronging the dam to meet Rajinikanth, have to return disappointed as they have not been allowed to meet the suerstar for security reasons.

The producer is managing the crowd to make sure that the film’s shooting is not disrupted. The film is likely  to hit the screens on December 12, Rajinikanth’s birthday.
