'Ratha' ready for its journey from Bantwal to Bengaluru urging the government to save government schools.

Demanding a new education policy and to exert pressure on the state government to save government schools in the state, a special Rath Yatra will be taken out from Bantwal to Bengaluru under the leadership of Karenki Sri Durga Friends’ Club President Prakash Anchan and other social organisations from September 5 to 7.

The Missed Call campaign to save government schools started by Prakash Anchan and Anil Shetty, registered 2.20 lakh missed calls from across the state.

As a continuation of the programme, a rally will be held from Freedom Park to Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on September 8 at 11 am.

The team will meet Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and share the problems of the government schools and the need for a education policy with him.

The Rath Yatra will be flagged off by MLA Rajesh Naik from Karenki Temple.

On September 5, the Yatra will pass through Rayi-Siddakatte-Moodbidri-Beluvai-Karkala-Udupi-Brahmavara-Sasthana-Kota-Thekkatte-Koteshwara-Siddapura-Hosangadi-Hulikal-Masthikatte-Ikkebailu to reach Theerthahalli. On September 6, it will pass through Sakrebailu-Shivamogga-Tarikere-Kadur. On September 7, it will pass through Banavara-Bendekere-Arasikere-Tipaturu-Yagachikatte-Nitturu-Gubbi-Singanahalli-Hegere-Mandipete-Tumakuru-Dabaspete-Nelamangala-Yashvanthpura-Malleshwaram-Bengaluru, said Prakash Anchan.

Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Chief Whip of Opposition in Council Kota Srinivas Poojary will address Ratha Yatra.

He said that a sound system has been installed in the chariot. The Yatra will emphasise the need to save government schools.
