Belagavi: To ensure that students of its affiliated colleges get access to lectures delivered by renowned faculty members of different colleges and help them enhance the horizon of their knowledge during learning, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi (RCUB) has started uploading lectures on its 'e-vidya' portal under the Learning Management System repository.

RCUB, one of the biggest universities in the state with over 1.60 lakh students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses, has implemented the e-vidya portal from the current academic year. About 90,000 students from the affiliated colleges and post-graduate centre of the varsity have enrolled.

Lectures given by faculty members of various colleges have been stored in the Learning Management System repository. Students have to upload their academic credentials on the portal to access the lectures. The Learning Management System repository has been designed in such a manner that students can have access to lectures on the same subjects by different faculty members to gain more knowledge about the subjects.

Top-notch colleges

Registrar Santosh Kamagouda said the Learning Management System repository under the e-vidya portal has lectures of faculty members from top-notch and most sought-after colleges. The students from extremely remote areas who were hitherto unable to take admissions in top-notch colleges due to different reasons will now have access to lectures from the faculty members of those colleges, he explained.

The e-vidya portal has made resources available for students to enhance their knowledge by providing access to lectures from faculty members of their choice. For additional information, students can listen to lectures on the same subjects by faculty members from different colleges. Even during preparations for examinations, the access will be more beneficial, the registrar said.

Apart from academic lectures, e-vidya also provides information to the students on various events organised by RCUB, induction programmes, access to special lectures and workshops as all can't attend them, how to read newspapers for enhancing general knowledge and other academic and co-curricular activities, Kamagouda stated.

The portal has been launched and students have begun to access it. In the coming days, we hope that all students enroll and avail benefits, he added.
