Recession has been hyped feel students

However, some of them still feel the recession has currently hit job opportunities, salaries and an increase in layoffs.

More than half the numbers of respondents indicated no change or an increase in expenditure on all the ten prompted categories.

Sixty per cent respondents were found not to have decreased their spends on personal/fashion accessories, gifting, electronic gadgets, magazines, clothing, CDs, etc.
As high as 80 per cent respondents opined that there has been no change or an increase in the amount spent on transportation, mobile bills  and others. The survey revealed that the students’ personal buying behaviour was not reflective of what they have heard and read about the recession. Almost half of the respondents admitted to a decrease in their savings in the last four months. 

The study was conducted by brand-comm, an Integrated Brand Communications firm, in  collaboration with Jyothi Nivas College .

In all, 459 students from Christ College, Jyothi Nivas College, BMS, Jain College of Engineering, ICFAI, IIPM, SBMJCE, MS Ramaiah College of Technology, Vijaya College, PESIT, Kristu Jayanti College, St. Joseph’s College, Vivekananda Degree College, St John’s Medical College, East West College of Engineering, VVN College, BHS College, Presidency College, Mount Carmel College, New Horizon College and CMR Institute of Technology, were surveyed.
