Record polling in Bellary Rural constituency

 Voters in the rural areas coming under Bellary Rural constituency exercised their franchise more enthusiastically than their counterparts in urban pockets.

Polling picked up in the afternoon in the 203 booths in the constituency and went on till 7 pm. Farmers, who were in their fields in the morning, came to the polling stations by evening.  Returning officer Anirudh Shravan said that Thursday’s poll percentage was a record in recent times. The election had to be halted for an hour from 11 am in polling station number 50 in the city limits, as the electronic voting machine developed a glitch. Voting resumed after the faulty device was replaced.
