He made these remarks, after inaugurating a six-day Export Management Training Programme for industrialists and traders, organised by the VTPC, at a private hotel, in Mysuru, on Monday. The event aims to expand Karnataka’s export sector and to increase volumes.

Babu emphasised that it is crucial to first study the market, to become a good exporter. “When we study the market, we gain an understanding. It is best to produce the goods after understanding the demands, in the current situation,” he said.

He informed that Karnataka contributes 41% of India’s export services and holds the first position in the country, for exporting goods. “However, it ranks fourth in the import of goods. The objective of the training is to increase Karnataka’s export business. The VTPC will provide necessary support to increase exports,” he assured.

Suresh Kumar Jain, general secretary of Mysuru Industries Association, said that the export business is a challenging sector. “The manufacturer should first produce for the domestic market in large quantities and then export,” he said.

Participants were from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Sagar, Hinkal, Hunsur, and Bagalkot. Deputy Director of VTPC - Export Facilitation Centre - L Meghala, secretary of Mysuru Chamber of Commerce and Industries Shivaji Rao, and programme coordinator of VTPC Arvind Bhat were present.
