Renovation of 700-year-old temple begins in Birur

Several antiques belong to the temple including bronze items of lion, horse, peacock and cobras, stands as testimony to the ancient glory of the temple. Idols of Shridevi Bhoodevi, Janardhana Swamy and Parivarasametha Srinivasa too are being worshippped at the temple.

Former MP Shrikantappa had taken initiative to renovate the temple. The Shri Kshetra Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara Dharmothana Trust came forward donating Rs 10 lakh for the renovation. Meanwhile, people of Birur too have collected about Rs 2 lakh for the renovation works and Rs 1 lakh has been released by the government through MLA’s fund. Temples for Ganapathi and Shanaischara will also be constructed soon.
