Mysuru: S L N Achar (86), a well-known painter from Mysuru, died of age-related ailments at his residence on Wednesday morning.
A resident of Vijayanagar Fourth Stage in Mysuru, Achar was a recipient of the prestigious Lalithakala Academy award. He was a Law graduate and served the Land Records department of Karnataka government.
Achar was initially trained in goldsmithery by his father Lakshminarayana Achar. Even though he was an expert jewels maker, he inclined towards painting and became a popular artist. He also penned his autobiography ‘Navyavarna’.
Achar is survived by wife, one daughter and two sons.
