Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday reviewed precautionary measures taken following the death of six birds due to Avian Influenza at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in Mysuru.

Officials of Zoo Authority of Karnataka are learnt to have apprised him of the steps taken to prevent the spread of the disease. The zoo has been closed for the public from January 4 to February 2.

Siddaramaiah told the officials that the zoo is a major tourist attraction in Mysuru. Closing it for many days will affect tourism. Hence, measures should be taken to reopen the zoo as early as possible, he added.
