They said that ZP member Aranamada Chengappa had directed the GP Secretary not to issue the cheque to the contractor who had supplied cooker till the investigation into the alleged misappropriation over purchase of cooker was completed.
“However, the GP secretary issued cheques to the contractor. There was misappropriation of fund to the tune of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh in the scam,” the protesters alleged. Gorugodu Ayyappa Self-Help Group President Katimada Sharin Muthanna A cooker with five year warranty is available at Rs 735 but GP . had purchased poor quality cooker at low rate, Muthanna said. ZP CEO had conducted probe into the alleged misappropriation and closed the case. Protesters said that they would stage protest from October 2 onwards if the Secretary is not susppended immediately.
DC K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda received the memorandum from the protestors and promised to direct the ZP CEO to look into matter.
