A retired ‘D’ group employee committed suicide by hanging himself to the office door of the Social Forestry department on the premises of the district administration block in Bagalkot.

The deceased has been identified as Ayyappa R Naikar (62). He was serving as a jawan on contract basis at the office of Deputy Conservator of Forests here. He had joined the service in 1985 and had retired on May 30, 2016.

It is said that he was upset as he did not get retirement benefits and was not given a farewell from the office.

Harassment charge

In the death note, Ayyappa alleged that some higher officials at the office harassed him. They did not give farewell after he retired. He had availed loans, hoping to get retirement benefits. A case has been registered at the Navanagar police station.
