With the water-level at Thumbe vented dam depleting to 3.95 metres, the Mangaluru City Corporation has revised water rationing system, which will be implemented from Monday.

In the new rationing system, water supply will be stopped for 72 hours from Monday. The water supply will resume from May 16 and will continue for 96 hours, to all the 60 wards. The new rationing system will be implemented till June 1, said Executive Engineer Linge Gowda.

The new rationing system is being introduced to ensure that water is sufficient to supply till the first week of June.

The officials have appealed to the people to use water judiciously and not to use it for washing cars and watering plants.
