The jumbo was tranquilised using a dart before being captured at a turmeric field belonging to Nanjundmurthy.
On Thursday, the elusive elephant had taken refuge in Belaganahalli lake. Attempts by the forest department officials to get the animal out of water failed, despite employing two tamed elephants Arjun and Mary to do the job, as it was raining heavily, sources said.
Three teams were formed to keep an eye on its movement, but they lost track of the animal as it had moved out of the lake.
On Friday morning, it was traced to a farm near Malar Colony belonging to Dr Khan. One of the forest officials fired the first dart with the help of Dr Prayag.
However, the jumbo escaped. Subsequently, the forest officers managed to tranquilise it with the second dart at a paddy field belonging to Chikkarangaia. The dazed jumbo started running but soon lost consciousness at a turmeric farm where it was captured with the help of mahout Masti and three tamed elephants - Arjun, Balaram and Mary. The elephant was administered medication and shifted to the Bandipur National Park.
