With the advancement of monsoon and incessant downpour over the last few days, the sale of umbrella, raincoats, sweater and gumboots have increased in Madikeri.
The rain since the past few days has been fecilitating retailers and wholesalers to do brisk business.
The people were seen purchasing plastic hat, tarpaulin and other required materials to protect oneself from the rain.
Rain protection gears have been kept for sale on Mahadevapete Road, College Road and Toll Gate. Though the prices are expensive compared to last year, the colourful umbrellas are attractive.
The cost of umbrellas on Chowki Road was between Rs 200 to Rs 350. Compared to last year, gumboots and sandals are expensive this year.
The bamboo baskets used for drying the clothes are also on sale.
