Samithi, well owners try to mitigate water crisis

Udupi-based Jilla Nagarika Seva Samithi has been striving to mitigate water crisis by supplying water to the citizens who have been struggling to get water.

Samithi has pressed into service at least five water tankers in order to supply water to the parched wards in the city.

Social workers Nityananda Olakadur and Taranath Mesta with the support of entrepreneurs have been supplying water free of charge to the people during peak summer for the past 10 years.

Entrepreneur Prakash Pai has offered his three open wells in Beedinagudde to the samithi to draw and supply water to the needy citizens. Pai has also been offering water free of charge to members of different organisations. Apart from this, a few open wells owners in Indrali Layout too are donating water to the needy. People from residential layouts near Indrali are collecting water from the wells.
