This was announced to the media here on Thursday by Mysore City Local Lorry Owners Association President B Kodandaramu.

Of the total 1,200 lorries transporting construction materials, half of them were transporting sand alone from T Narsipura to other places in the district. Following the recent inspection drive, those indulge in the illegal activity have bid goodbye for the time being. The district administration should take an immediate action by issuing the permit both to lift and transport sand, instead of initiating action alone against the perpetrators.

The delay in arriving on a decision may turn worse, as there are chances of even other lorries transporting jelly stones, bricks among other construction materials coming to a screeching halt, warned Kodandaramu. Moreover, it’s the families dependent on such lorries will be put into hardship, he added.

If the crisis remains stagnant, the common man will feel the pinch, if his/ her dream house under construction, hangs in balance.
