A reward of Rs 5 lakh will also be awarded to the nirmala gram panchayats which have implemented the programmes, he said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the total sanitation drive organised by the nodal centre, here recently. Karnataka occupies 16th place among the other states in maintaining sanitation. It is every citizen’s responsibility to maintain cleanliness, he said.

ZP Chief Executive Officer Tulasi Madineni  spoke on the occasion. Taluk Panchayat vice-president Junjaiah, members  S R Gowda, P B Narasimhaiah, Y A Manjunath were present.
