Farmers' leader and Karnataka Rajya Kabbu Belegarara Sangha president Kurubur Shanthakumar on Thursday urged Supreme Court to review its order directing to release four tmcft (thousand million cubic feet) of water to Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to reporters Shanthakumar said: "It is not right on part of the judge to take a revengeful stance against farmers of Karnataka. The order must be reviewed."

"How is this possible to release the water when reservoirs have no water? The government is not in a position to take the decision due to Assembly election," he said.

"The farmers have been facing drought situation for last three years. This year too, the state has not received sufficient rains. The Apex Court must review its order," he demanded.
