Bengaluru: Schools in the state are all set to reopen on Thursday, after a two-month-long summer vacation.
CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa and other senior ministers and officials will take part in an event to welcome children back at Karnataka Public School in Adugodi, Bengaluru, on Thursday.
The department has requested elected representatives to take part in the events organised to welcome children back at schools near them.
"Along with milk, egg and mid-day meal, we have arranged to distribute flowers to students on the first day," said the head master of a government school in Bengaluru South.
In some schools, teachers have taken initiatives to decorate the premises and create a festival-like mood. "It will encourage them to come to school every day," said the teacher of a government school.
There are schools which have invited even parents and siblings on day one of the re-opening. "We have a special mid-day-meal menu for the first day. The meal will have a sweet dish," said the head master of another government school.
Tender has been awarded for uniforms distribution but they are yet to reach the schools. However, 60% of the textbooks have already reached schools. In some districts, DCs have been given powers to declare holiday considering the rain situation.
