Schools told to begin admissions in January

The Karnataka government has issued guidelines to schools, asking them to start admissions for the next academic year, only from January 2013.

Taking cognisance of the practice among many private schools to begin admissions as early as October, the Department of Public Instruction has issued circular asking schools to restrain from starting the admission. The department will soon publish a detailed calendar of events.

Schools have been asked to notify to the block education officers (BEO) about the number of seats available for admissions to class I, after the calendar of events are released. The BEOs will later calculate the number of students to be enrolled under the Right to Education’s 25 per cent quota and will notify to the community by displaying it in public places.
