Mangaluru: A video clip shared by a citizen exposing traffic violations by a scooter rider prompted swift action from the Mangaluru Traffic Police.

The video, which surfaced on social media, showed a rider travelling from Bendorewell through Kankanady and Pumpwell towards Thokkottu without a helmet and with the scooter's rear number plate concealed using a plastic cover. As the video went viral, the police quickly initiated an investigation and traced the vehicle owner.

Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal stated that the incident reportedly occurred on March 23 between 4 pm and 4:10 pm. After examining technical evidence and surveillance footage, the police identified the vehicle and located the owner.

The rider was found guilty of multiple violations, including riding without a helmet, concealing the number plate, using a tampered number plate, negligent driving, riding without a valid licence, and using a mobile phone while riding. A total fine of Rs 5,500 was imposed.
