Primary and Secondary Education Minister N Mahesh on Friday told the Legislative Council that he would re-examine the circular issued by his department with regard to recruitment of teachers in aided schools.

Mahesh was replying to S V Sankanur (BJP) during the calling attention motion. Sankanur demanded that the government relax the condition it had introduced in a circular issued on June 26, 2017.

The circular stipulates that schools cannot recruit teachers if their SSLC results for the last five years is lesser than that of the district average.

Member S L Bhoje Gowda, K T Srikantegowda, Sharanappa Mattur and Ivan D’Souza too demanded that the government withdraw the circular.

Pro tem Chairman Basavaraj Horatti too urged the government to withdraw the circular.

The minister said that he seek expert opinion, before taking a call on the matter.
