Social responsibility
On the occasion, A S N Murthy, Inspector General of Police, Southern Range asked the presspersons to deliver their duty with a social responsibility. He lauded the Mysore media for its fair work.
Hotelier P V Giri released the annual diary of the Association. He rued about the political imbroglio in State and said instead of attending to the woes of the public, the politicians were busy addressing petty issues.
He took a dig at the bad status of few roads in city and the delay in the completion of work on the Mysore - KRS road.
The common man is put to suffering, he said. The journalists were distributed the accident insurance policy on the occasion.
Condolences
The gathering paid condolences to Hindustani maestro, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, who passed away on Monday morning.
Earlier, Senior photographer Nethraraju was awarded the T S Satyan award instituted at the Mysore District Journalists Association at a programme on Monday.
Sudesh Doddapalya, senior reporter of Prajavani daily was presented the year’s best young journalist award.
Pandit Taranath presented the award to the duo.
Both the awards carry citation and ` 10,000 cash prize each.
The vocalist said the awards were a recognition of the merit and contribution of the journalist and the photographer.
MDJA president K Shivakumar, secretary B S Prabhurajan and others were present at the programme.
