The online self-declaration is the second phase of the statewide survey of SCs being conducted by the government to decide on internal reservation. The door-to-door survey that began on May 05 will conclude on May 25. The online self-declaration began on May 19. In the third phase (May 26-28) camps will be conducted for enrollment.

During the online survey, citizens should enter the RD number (unique identification number) of their caste certificate. However, some people have reportedly encountered glitches while updating these card numbers.

“When some people provided the code number of their caste certificate, the app says they aren’t SCs. It could be a mistake in the caste certificate or in the certificate number or the caste certificates could be fake,” a source told DH.

The enumeration numbers in Bengaluru, which were significantly lower than the state average, have picked up over the last few days.

By Sunday, 75,719 SC households had been enumerated in Bengaluru (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike limits). The number significantly increased to around 1.5 lakh by Wednesday. Across the state, nearly 23 lakh of the estimated 25.72 lakh SC households have been surveyed.
