The residents in Ullal remained apprehensive as strong waves continued to lash the coast for the third successive day on Friday.

As many as 47 houses faced the threat of being washed away in Ullal on Friday.

The house of one, Zohara Rahim, was completely damaged due to the rough waves at Kaiko.

The strong waves continued to lash houses in Ullal, Kaiko, Kileriyanagara and Subhashnagara. The waves also inundated roads at Peribail in Someshwara Ucchila.

As many as three houses were damaged due to sea water inundating homes. Families staying in six houses in Kaiko were forced to abandon their homes on Thursday night, fearing for their safety.

Ullal City Municipal Commissioner Vani Alva said that out of 167 houses located on the shores, 47 had been identified as vulnerable. The occupants of the houses had been shifted to safer areas.

Meanwhile, a delegation of JD(S) leaders from Ullal met Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and demanded a permanent solution for the sea erosion at Kaiko, Mukkachery and Kileriyanagara.
