Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Saturday said that no holiday sanctions will be given to police officers in the state until the Central Government informs about improvement in the situation across the country.
He announced this while speaking to the reporters on Saturday near his house in Sadashivanagar. He emphasised that sensitive areas across the state have been deployed with additional personnel to heighten security.
“From the past experiences of war, we know that there should be effective security in the coastal region; hence, we have tightened the security in such places. We have beefed up security in the Uttara Kannada and Mangaluru regions,” Parameshwara said.
He explained that there are two lines of security in the coastal regions, including state police and the central force’s security. Both forces are keeping vigil, and the forces have been strengthened with additional deployment of personnel.
Parameshwara said that the measures are being taken up as per the guidelines issued by the central government.
“Our army is taking effective measures against the developments unfolding in the border regions. The central government has informed all states that if the situation escalates into a war-like situation, the guidelines given will have to be followed,” Parameshwara said.
He explained that precautionary measures such as stocking up enough food and water security and improving hospital infrastructure are ongoing. He also said that a lot of fake news is being circulated on social media and other platforms about the developments in the country. He noted the state government will take measures to tackle such fake news.
Amidst this, even the holiday sanctions for personnel of central forces have been cut short, and they are informed to report to work with immediate effect.
