Seminar on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan

Speaking at a seminar on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyana at Belavadi village organised by the Department of Information, Department of Women and Child Development, and Gram Panchayat at Belavadi, he said government has earmarked Rs 60 crore towards Sarva Shiksha Abhiyana. The project aims at opening a school in every village which has minimum population of 200. The district has 92 school drop outs. A programme has been chalked out to bring them back to the portals of the school.

Education Officer Manjunath said 12 crore students are getting the benefit of mid-day meals in the country. Vitamin tablets are being distributed to the students.

Information Department Senior Assistant Director D Narasimhamurthy, Assistant Education Officer B C Shanmugaradhya also spoke.
