Mysuru: Chief Minister's media advisor K V Prabhakar called on future journalists to uphold ethics, values, truth, objectivity in the media industry in the era of technological digital AI era.

"Journalists should function as a bridge between Government and people; and strive for the development of the state and for the welfare of people," he said.

He was speaking at the valedictory of two day 'Media Habba'- 'En Samaachaara' organised by Karnataka Media academy, Department of Information and Public Relations, in association with the Department of Journalism and Mass communication of University of Mysore on Friday.

Prabhakar said, "State Government has formed a fact check team to assess and cross check facts. Journalists should cross check facts and understand before writing a factual news report. They shouldn't indulge in imagination. They should not sow the seeds of superstitions in the minds of people," he said.

State Commissioner of Karnataka Information Commission K Badruddin, said that Journalism is a unique, strong, sacred, special, respectable, responsible profession. He shared certain tips to become successful credible journalists and asked Journalism students to study deeply, gain knowledge, stay bold and strong, be a good listener, have patience to listen and understand problems shared by people.

He even called them on to utilise RTI act to avail authentic information to ensure corruption free transparent administration. Badruddin asked them to know the importance of the Indian constitution to bring about reforms in society.

Karnataka Media Academy Chairperson Ayesha Khanum, KMA Secretary M Sahana, Vice Chancellor of Bangalore North University, Kolar, Prof Niranjan Vaanalli, HoD, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of UoM, Prof N Mamatha, Journalist Radha Hiregouder were present. Prizes were distributed to students who won in various contests organised during the fest.
