The JD(S), for the first time since its inception, has come out with a separate Bangalore-specific manifesto to woo the City voters.

Releasing the manifesto, former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda said Bangalore too was a priority for them. While listing out the contributions of Gowda and his son and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, the manifesto portrays a grim picture of Bangalore today, where the roads resemble craters on Moon and Mars.

Kumaraswamy has taken credit for expanding the area of Bangalore from 200 sq km to 800 sq km by forming the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, commencement of Metro Rail project, connectivity to the Bangalore International Airport and introduction of Volvo buses by BMTC.

If voted to power, JD(S) has promised to strengthen the Lokayukta, to form the Metropolitan Planning Committee, a new system for clean Bangalore by setting up the Bangalore Waste Management Authority. The JD(S) promises to establish the Bangalore Arterial Road Development Authority, with focus on pedestrian safety. It also proposes integrating Metro Rail and BMTC services. The JD(S) also promises to provide at least 35,000 sites in Bangalore every year. The party vows to work towards recycling used water.

On the law and order front, the party has promised to give utmost priority to the safety of women by recruiting more woman constables and sub-inspectors. The party will promote women taxi services and door-to-door bus service for women. For the safety of elderly persons, the party will make registration of security service providers mandatory.
