As many as seven men and women found as destitute and admitted at Vishwasada Mane owned by the Divine Generation Miniseries Bethel Church Trust, are now returning back to their respective homes.
Vishwasada Mane Pastor John D’Souza said that these people belong to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. They were found in very bad condition and all were mentally ill.
Mallamma (55) from Andhra Pradesh was found in Malpe. Rasgooti, aged 48 from Tamil Nadu was wandering in Kinnimulkhi and eating spilled food in garbage when he was admitted to Vishwasada Mane. Janaki, aged 60, from Tamil Nadu was mentally ill when she was picked up from Bantakallu area. Veeraswami (46) from Tamil Nadu was found in Mangalore and was later admitted to Vishwasada Mane. Haribabu was roaming in Brahmagiri and was badly ill. Malati from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, aged 35, was shifted to Vishwasada Mane from Prajna Counseling Center in Mangalore, he added.
The Pastor said that all these people are trained for construction works, tailoring, and cooking. They have opted for the training of their choice.
Vishwasada Mane has made arrangements to send all the seven people to their houses in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. He added that they have undergone the treatment for mental illness and are now able to identify themselves and recognise their past. They are taken to the addresses given by them by the members of Vishwasada Mane. He said around 136 people have been sent back home after their recovery. It goes up to 143 including these seven people. Currently, there are 230 inmates in the house which includes young kids and aged people. The orphanage was started in the year 2005, he said and added that besides treatments for all kind of diseases, the inmates are also given vocational training as the means of self dependency, he said.
