Kote police registered a suo moto case against Samyukta Kisan Morcha leader Rakesh Tikait, accusing him of making provocative statements during the Raitha Maha panchayat held at the science field in Shivamogga on March 20.

Based on the statements that farmers must picket Vidhana Dosha and use tractors as weapons to intensify the agitation three farm laws brought in by the centre, police registered the case against him under IPC section 153.

However, the organisers of the event have slammed the police in this regard and stated that the act is against the principles of democracy. "This is the best example of BJP's attempt to suppress the voices against the Centre," they said.
