Udupi: Speaking to reporters in Kaup on Sunday, BJP State President B Y Vijayendra said that he felt "sorry" for Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah for the burden placed on the state's exchequer because of Congress' guarantee schemes.

"During B S Yediyurappa’s tenure as Chief Minister, special grants were allocated to Tulu Nadu. However, the current Congress government has not continued this practice. Looking at Siddaramaiah, I feel sorry for him—he has tied his own hands with guarantees. The state's financial condition has deteriorated," Vijayendra said.

He also claimed that the irrigation and public works departments are facing a shortage of funds and that the government was "struggling even to pay electricity bills."

According to Energy Minister K J George, various departments have pending electricity bills amounting to Rs 6,000 crore, which, according to Vijayendra, reflected the government’s "poor administration."

He further alleged that the state government has shut down nine universities established during the BJP's tenure, citing a lack of funds to support them.

Responding to a query about the selection of the BJP state president, Vijayendra said that the time has come to put an end to all controversies. He stated that the name of the new state BJP president will be announced soon. "So far, appointments have been made for 12 states, and the selection process for Karnataka and other states will be completed in the coming days. Once the president is announced, all issues will be resolved," he added.
