Bengaluru: Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Tuesday that challenges continue in border areas, but asserted that the situation has improved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.

“In such a big nation, who weakened the border area? Who gave up Aksai Chin and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK)? We haven’t claimed that everything will be immediately normalised in border areas, but things have improved. Earlier, soldiers were pelted with stones. Not even one such incident is happening now (sic),” Joshi added.

He was addressing a press conference on the track record of the Modi-led government over the past 11 years.

Referring to Operation Kagar in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region to “eliminate” naxalism, the union minister said: “Pashupathi to Tirupathi was the slogan of red terrorists who wanted to create a red corridor and defeat the Indian administration. However, 70 per cents of Naxalism has come down. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that Naxalism will end by March 2026. This is a decisive government.”
