The dead are B Gurusiddaiah (55), a section officer in the electrical division of Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited, his wife Netra (45), Manjunath Eshwarappa (52), Geeta Manjunath (42), Ganganna Huchchappa (40) and Sarojamma Huchchappa (35). Two sons of Ganganna, aged 11 and 3, were seriously injured. The jeep driver Shivanand B Dalwai lost his legs in the accident.
The family of the deceased was on its way to Shirdi for a pilgrimage.
According to sources, the jeep driver was driving on the wrong side and hit the lorry coming from the opposite direction.
Superintendent of Police D C Rajappa visited the accident spot. A case was registered with the Managuli police station.
