The police have identified the dead as Muddurama, the driver of gas tanker, Kumar, Manjunath and Mallikarjuna. The identity of the two more is yet to be established.
The driver of the lorry fled the spot, unhurt. The tanker was reduced to a heap of metal and bodies were extricated with the help of a crane. The injured labourers after first aid at Kunigal hospital, have been shifted to Bangalore for treatment. A case has been registered.
