The sixth state pay commission has recommended an increase of 30% in pay to 5.3 lakh state government employees.  

The commission constituted by the state government and headed by retired IAS officer M R Srinivasmurthy submitted its report to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah  on Wednesday.

Siddaramaiah is expected to make an official announcement accepting the recommendations of the panel in his budget address on  February 16.

The commission's recommendation places the minimum pay scale to government employees at Rs 17,000 and maximum at Rs 1.5 lakh plus allowances per month.

The revised pay scale will come into effect from July 2017 and will cost the state exchequer an additional burden of Rs 10,508 crore per annum.
