A villager said “as there are no bus shelters here, we are finding it difficult to wait for the buses in the region surrounded by forests. Earlier, buses from Dharmasthala and Mangalore to Chikmagalur were stopping at Alekan Horatti. However, now the buses are not stopping near Alekan Horatti gate.” Though several buses ply in the region, hardly few buses stop here. As a result, the villagers have to alight from the bus at Kottigehara and take an autorickshaw to reach Alekan Horatti by paying Rs 200.

Looking at the transport system in the village, SKDRDP Project Director Jayaram Nellithaya said “we will provide a loan to purchase jeep. The transport problem can be solved by renting out the jeep.”
