Shivamogga: District in-charge minister Madhu Bangarappa said that skill oriented classes will be started for students of grade 8th to 12th from the next academic year along with curriculum in the state.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Skill and Employment Fair organised under the aegis of the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Department, Skill Development Corporation, District Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee on the premises of the National College of Education in the city.
He said that providing skill-based education to students at the stage of primary education will make their future lives brighter and they will be able to acquire skills in the field of their choice, get desired jobs and lead a self-reliant life.
"If job fairs are organised at the taluk level, the number of employers attending the event will be very less. Therefore, action will be taken after discussing with the officials of the concerned department to arrange free bus facility for registered job seekers to travel from rural and urban areas for job fairs to be organised at the district headquarters from next year," he added.
