Department of Occupational Therapy, School Of Allied Health Sciences (SOAHS), organised a ‘walkathon’ in Udupi.
The programme was organised on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons.
Also, it was held in collaboration with the Udupi Senior Citizens’ Association and the SCIO Foundation, Manipal.
The walkathon was flagged off by Niranjan Bhat (District Disability Officer), Thalloor Shivaram Shetty (President of Lions Club, Brahmagiri), C S Rao (President, Udupi Senior Citizens’ Association), Dr K M Sabu (Associate Dean of SOAHS), as well as Dr Sebestina Anita Dsouza (Professor and Head, Department of Occupational Therapy, SOAHS).
About 80 people participated in the walkathon.
The staff members and the students from the Department of Occupational Therapy of SOAHS also conducted screening for fall risk and dementia for all citizens who wished to get a screening done.
The event was conducted to create awareness about health and well-being of senior citizens and was held at Yoga Vedike outside the Ajjarkadu Park.
