A soldier from Karle village of Belagavi taluk has laid down his life while defending the borders of the country.
Naib Subedar Narayan Ramu Tarihalkar (40) was killed in the infiltration bid by Pakistan army in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The mortal remains of the soldier is expected to reach the village by Saturday morning.
Tarihalkar is survived by his parents, wife and two children. He had joined the Indian Army in 1994 through Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Belagavi.
