Bengaluru: The makers of the Kannada film Kuladalli Keelyavudo, directed by K Ramnarayan, have decided to remove a song sung by singer Sonu Nigam, according to a press note.
This move comes after Sonu Nigam allegedly linked the Pahalgam terror attack with a Kannada song request from a fan in a recent concert in the city.
"There is no doubt that Sonu Nigam is a good singer. But we are very upset by how he spoke about Kannada recently at a concert," the press statement reads.
Sonu Nigam had sung the song 'Manasu haadtade' for the film three months ago. It is composed by Manomurthy and written by Yogaraj Bhat. The song was released recently and gained popularity.
The director, however, said in the press release, "We cannot tolerate the insult that Sonu Nigam has done to Kannada, so we have removed the song."
The filmmakers have decided to get Kannada singer Chethan to record the song, which will be used in the film. The film's producer Santosh Kumar has decided to not get Sonu Nigam on board in his future projects.
On Monday, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce had resolved not to cooperate with Sonu Nigam anymore.
