SpiceJet, on Thursday, announced the re-opening of its bookings in and out of Mysore city. With this announcement, SpiceJet will now connect Mysore to 11 other cities across India including all four metros.
SpiceJet customers travelling from Kochi, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Belgaum, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi can now travel to Mysore via Bangalore starting August 21. Belgaum-Mysore operations are said to commence on September 5.
SpiceJet, in a press release, stated that it was offering promotional fares for all its flights in and out of Mysore.
These fares will be applicable for travel between August 21 and October 30, 2014. Bookings for tickets are open now. Flights are operational on all days of the week, except for Tuesdays and Saturdays.
SpiceJet Ltd Chief Commercial Officer Kaneswaran Avili said “We are pleased to reopen bookings for our Mysore operations on requests from customers, local travel agents and government officials.”
Mysore Airport Director C Manjunath said the operations, withdrawn at the ‘wrong’ time, were resuming at the ‘right’ time.
“The airline has confirmed continuing operations even after Dasara, but logistics are being worked out,” he said.
The airline had withdrawn its operations due to internal problems. SpiceJet had been continuously cancelling flights during June-July, apart from frequently changing the timings. This had affected the operations. “We are hoping these problems have been set right,” Manjunath said.
He said the Airport authorities had resumed talks with Vijaywada-based Air Costa, and there were indications the airline might introduce flights to Mysore.
