Sports is not only meant for competition but also for entertainment. Many achievers in the field of sports have been recognised at national and international-level for their contribution, said Zilla Okkaligara Sangha president I M Mahesh Gowda.
He was speaking after felicitating the achievers of taluk-level sports tournament at JVS Girls PU College in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday.
“Everyone must take part in sports as it builds confidance and fortitude. Support will be given to those who have exelled in taluk-level sports. Victory and defeat in sports are not a great deal, he said and lauded the encourgement provided by the department concerned and the educational institutions.
Winners in Basketbball competition Neha, Pooja, Fathima Tanwir, Seema, Rastriya, Tamanna Moyion Ara, Afreen, Asadiya Naha, Raksha, Sania Khan, Saba Kousar, Asfiya and Shuttle Badminton winner Vaibhavi, Kausalya, Gunashree, Thejaswini and Mahalakshmi were felicitated on the occasion.
Association Vice-president Kanaka Veeresh, Secretary Sandeep, College Deputy Secretary Pradeep Kumar and Principal Tejaswini and others were present.
