Speaking to Deccan Herald about his plans for the university, Dr Sriprakash said his priority was to address the current examination procedures and to bring out a transparency in the way it is conducted.
“We need to build confidence among students streamline the examination process by making it student-friendly. I am aware of the recently controversies with regard to the valuation. I will look into the matter and address the issues,” he said.
The V-C designate said he would look at research, training faculty and to develop collaborations with other health universities in India and abroad.
He said he would like to strengthen faculty exchange programmes and encourage tie-up programmes with other universities and institutions abroad.
Dr Sriprakash said he also wanted to develop the infrastructure of RGUHS and try and develop a dedicated full-fledged university campus in future.
Dr Sriprakash, formerly the director of Minto Opthalmic Hospital, was chosen for the post by the Governor out of a panel of persons distinguished in health sciences. A search committee headed by Dr M S Thimmappa, former Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University made the selection.
Other members of the committee included Dr Mayilvahanan Natarajan, V-C, Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai and Dr M V Ramanamma, former director of medical education, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
