As a result, the place has turned out to be a safe haven for illegal activities and a dumping yard for garbage.

The mini stadium that is coming up at the two-and-half-acre at the college was halted following lack of funds from the government. The authorities concerned have built a wall on one side and the other side is left open which has become a safe way for pigs to roam around in the premises.

“Although the government had decided to build the stadium, it has not been helpful for the sportspersons. The government must priorities the needs of rural sportspersons, if it has to encourage rural sportspersons,” said taluk badminton player B S Nagabhushan.

It has been many years since the work on the stadium was halted. The stadium that has also turned out to be a garbage dumping yard defeats the very purpose of the government, say sportspersons here.

Sportspersons have urged the government to expedite the work on the mini stadium.
